From the Puffinry: Meet Martyna, Dante Media’s Social & Content Consultant

Martyna is Dante Media’s Social and Content consultant. She elaborated on the relationship between social media and impact.

What does your role entail at Dante Media?

At the moment, I focus a lot on copywriting for Dante Media, as well as occasionally advising on social media strategies.

I strongly believe in Dante Media's mission and the clients we worked with, and copywriting is something that I have always enjoyed and wanted to do more of, so it feels like a perfect fit!

Why is social media an important tool, especially for impact-driven companies trying to do good?

Social media has great power and potential to bring people together and create communities that would be impossible to find and create without channels like Instagram and TikTok. It allows people to find organisations and companies that align with their values.

Additionally, social media gives a certain insight into companies/organisations that weren’t possible before. Whilst being more vulnerable (to hate/cancel culture/critique/nitpicking), companies have a real opportunity to show who they truly are and bring people together for good.

How do you make sure the work you do takes up space in the fast-paced world of social media?

  1. Experiment. Making sure to trial different things, putting yourself in the shoes of your community, thinking about what they would like to see.
  2. Consistency. Many give up too quickly.
  3. Collaboration. By collaborating with key people/organisations, whether it’s through collaborative posts on Instagram or tagging and engaging with people on LinkedIn, you can reach your target audience.

How do you make sure small brands/companies have an impact that surpasses their size?

It all comes down to your mission. If your mission surpasses your size, so will your impact.

However, it’s also important to remember to take things one step at a time.
Focusing on one channel, narrowing down your messaging, setting small, achievable goals, and staying consistent will be key here. But most importantly, set a strong mission you believe in and focus on getting others to believe in it too.

How do you see media companies utilising technology for good in the realm of content creation?

At the moment, the debate around content creation has actually been more on the negative side. The rise of AI has raised massive debates about usage rights, authorship and how the AI is trained.

At the same time, the nature of social media has allowed for a big humanitarian push, raising awareness and funds for causes like the genocide in Palestine, the humanitarian crisis in Congo, etc. Here, humanitarian organisations, online content creators, and communities are coming together, which is truly beautiful to see.
